IMPORTANT NOTICE: Hand Foor & Mouth Disease
We have had two separate cases of the Hand, Foot and Mouth disease at Perth Street; one last week and one this week (in different classes). Whilst the number of children affected is very small, the disease is known to be highly contagious; and therefore we felt it prudent to inform all parents as a precaution.
Thus would you please be extra vigilant in monitoring your children for symptoms of the disease which includes spots or rashes on the hands, feet or in the mouth. The child may also have a light fever. If you suspect that your child may be infected please keep them away from school and seek medical advice. The disease is not serious and very easily treated with a recovery time of approximately one week.
We are in close contact with the Department of Health Protection (DHP) whose main advice is to ensure hands are kept clean. Please remind your children of the importance of washing their hands regularly during the day.
