Who is Saint Patrick?
What is a saint? A saint is a person who is said to be a very special Christian, because s/he lived in a good and holy way. The names of saints are sometimes used to name places and buildings.
What is a patron saint? A patron saint is a Christian saint who is believed to give special help to a place, activity, person or something.
The United Kingdom’s Flags and Patron Saints
The UK has the Union Jack flag and four patron saints.

Mostly, the UK is Christian and there is one patron saint for each country. The UK is made up of four countries. Each has a flag and a patron saint:

St Patrick's Day

St Patrick's Day is on the 17th of March every year. People celebrate this day with special parties and often dress in green, some even wear green hair!
St Patrick has a symbol, the shamrock plant. He used that in his teaching about Christianity.
