DATES FOR YOUR DAIRY 4

Dear All,

The weather is so changeable at the moment – yesterday morning we had lots of soggy children arriving at school! Please remember to pack a raincoat for your child as well as a sun hat. The school raincoats are particularly good as they have room to cover the children's backpacks.

At our last PTA meeting I was delighted to find out that, thanks to your generous support at this year's school fair, the PTA are able to donate $300K to support further development of our outside areas.  This really is an incredible feat and I again extend my heartfelt thanks to William and the PTA team as well as everyone who gave their time to help and attend this wonderful event.

Warmest regards.

Karen Thomas

Year 6 Action Day

As many of you are aware the Y6 PYP Exhibition is well under way with groups of students inquiring into the UN Global Goals and finding meaningful ways to take action to support the issues they have discovered. Many of the students have linked with local NGOs and are keen to raise awareness, collect resources and support through fundraising. In order to make sure the students' requests are successful we have agreed to hold a Y6 Action Day next Thursday 25th May. On this day all students are invited to bring $20 to school to ‘dress down' in support of the various charities the children are supporting. In addition there will be many different opportunities to support the various groups in different ways – details of which will be in next week's newsletter.

This week we have news from Exhibition Group 20:

We have been finding out about Global Goal 3 'Good Heath and Well Being' and we are interested in the well-being of the homeless people in Hong Kong. Our group have interviewed a man who works with the homeless people and we asked him how we could help too. We would like to ask the KJS community to donate any of the following things:

  1. Toilet rolls

  2. Blankets

  3. Cup noodles

  4. Unwanted adult clothing

All donations can be taken to the school office where there will be a box with 'Group 20 Collection for the Homeless' The deadline for all donations is Monday 29th May as our group will be giving them to some of the homeless people in Hong Kong.

Congratulations also go to Marcus who achieved fourth place in the finals of the Magic Fingers Little Musical Philanthropist Piano Competition. Marcus has been invited to perform at iSQuare in TST on 28 May.
