Message from the Head of School

Dear All,

After time out of school for recruitment, camp and the ESF Leadership Conference it has been a pleasure to be back in school today and to reconnect with every one here.  Since I last wrote you have received your child’s unit of inquiry report on our new reporting system, Evidencer. I do hope you found the reports more informative and personalized than before. We are hoping that the inclusion of samples of work in the reporting process will help your child discuss their learning more readily with you.  Their involvement and ability to articulate their learning should be by far the keenest indicator of their understanding.  Please email kjsfeedback@kjs.edu.hk  should you have any trouble accessing your child’s report.

Our PTA is planning a charity visit and hoping to get your support this holiday season. We will be arranging gifts for children at The Hub, a centre for children and youth, located in Sham Shui Po. (http://www.thehubhk.org) The Hub provides support services to disadvantaged children aged 6-18 who are experiencing difficult circumstances, and provides them with the opportunity to become valuable members of the community.

The Hub provides support services such as homework guidance, after school support, study room services, English and computer lessons, counseling services, nutrition care, interest classes and other social activities.

Our PTA is preparing stockings for these children and will visit the centre at 4:30pm next Monday, 12 December 2016. We will meet some of the children and give them Christmas gifts.  You can help in two ways:

  1. Please donate any or all the following (new) items to  the PTA who will prepare the stockings:  stationary, children’s cutlery, water bottles, tooth brushes, mugs, face towels, canned food and small toys.  Please drop off items that you wish to donate by this Friday, 9 December.
  2. Your children are invited to join the PTA to meet these children and give them stockings at the Hub, next Monday. We will leave the school at 4pm together and travel on a chartered minibus to visit the centre (we will watch a movie together until the bus leaves).  The visit will last for approximately 30 minutes and students will be brought back to school at 5:30pm.

This wonderful hands-on activity can provide an opportunity for our children to help and interact directly with disadvantaged children.   Our children can learn a valuable lesson in making a difference to another child’s happiness, and we hope our children may come away with a bit more gratitude for the good fortune that we have.

Please send an email to pta@kjs.edu.hk to reserve a space for this charitable activity.  We can only bring 10 students with us and it will be decided on a first come, first served basis.

Thank you for your support!

See you at the disco on Friday

Student Photos

As in previous years, we have arranged a photographer to come in and provide a photo-taking service to staff and children. An order form with a sample student photo were distributed to each child on Monday. The class photos will be displayed outside the school office on ground floor. If parents would like to order the class photos, please check the sample to see if your child is present in the photo before ordering it. Should you be interested in ordering these products, please complete and return the order form with a crossed cheque (payable: “Techni Photo”) to the school office before the deadline on Monday 12th December 2016. For any ordering inquiries, please contact the photographers at “Techni Photo” directly by telephone on 2803-5988 or by email photos@techni-photo.com.

If your child has not taken an individual student photo and would like to do so, please contact the photographers directly and make a booking to take the student photo at their studio.
