Dear Parents,

Who would have thought we would be here at school without children over the last week? I can assure you we have made the most of the time.

Teachers have been busy preparing for the remainder of Term 2 and planning exciting learning experiences for your children. We also took advantage of the time to undertake professional learning, to work in our schooling improvement teams and to further develop our understanding of the components of ‘success’ at KJS, our AAROW’s of success.

I do hope your children have had a good week and that you have a restful and family oriented Chinese New Year break. We look forward to seeing your children after the break.

Monday 26 February Staff Training Day

Some parents may well ask why we don’t cancel the Staff Training Day given the closure of the school this week. We would consider this option, however we have already booked in, paid for travel and facilitation and organised visa for an international facilitator to work with staff together with a local facilitator, hence we regret postponement or cancellation is not an option.

Fair Talent Quest Auditions: We will be holding the auditions for our Fair Talent quest in the first week back. If your child has entered please ensure they have the necessary props (music, instruments etc) to audition .

Uniforms: We have noticed students are not wearing the correct uniform for KJS. The expectations for the uniform and jewellery are quite clear. Please help your child to come to school after Chinese New Year in the correct uniform. We will be sending home messages where a child has arrived in the incorrect uniform

Kind Regards

亲切的问候,

सधन्यवाद

Neill O’Reilly

Principal

ESF Stakeholder Survey

After Chinese New Year stakeholders will be invited by email to participate in the biennial ESF Stakeholder Survey, which will be open from 5 to 19 March 2018. Through this survey we aim to find out about the impressions that parents, staff and students have formed about the education we provide. The feedback from the survey will help us build on our strengths and inform our future planning.

A parent invite will be emailed to the primary contact parent in your family on 5 March. [If you have a child at another ESF school you will receive a separate invite by email to participate in that school’s survey].

We would be very grateful if you would spare the time to complete the survey. It’s shorter than in the past and takes about 15-20 minutes to complete (though may take a little longer if you wish to add comments in the optional comment boxes).

Term 2 Teacher Training Day – 26 February (no class for children)

Parents please note that Monday 26 February, which is the first Monday after the half term holiday, will be teacher training day. There will be no class for children.

Chinese New Year Celebration

The CNY assembly is postponed to Friday 2 March. Parents and students please be reminded to come to school wearing Chinese-style or red-colored clothes to celebrate CNY in our school!

PTA Update

Just a quick update, Fair Talent Quest auditions will be held in the first week back after Chinese New Year so if your children have entered they have practice time.

We hope you are enjoying the extended Chinese New Year break.

Here at the PTA office we are still putting together details for the school fair.

If you are interested in helping out in any way for the air, please do get in touch with us via email at pta@kjs.edu.hk. We could use your help in the following areas:

  • Face painting stall
  • Nail polishing stall
  • Temporary tattoos stall
  • Hairband selling stall
  • Hairspray colouring stall
  • International food stalls
  • Book sale
  • White Elephant stall

Thank you!

On behalf of everyone at the PTA, we would like to wish you and your families a very healthy and happy Year of the Dog.
