Dear Parents,

Ever said these things?:

“Good boy!”   or “Good girl!” “What a beautiful picture!”

“You are so smart!”        “You are so clever!”

“Stop that right now or else!”

Last week I mentioned growth mindsets. Growth mindsets are integral to wellbeing, achievement and agency (self regulation and responsibility for learning). This week I would like to share one message only.

The words you speak on a moment by moment , day by day basis will play a key role in determining if your child has a fixed or growth mindset. Please take the time to read this link and think about if you are setting your child up to have a fixed or growth mindset.

We are working to change and improve how we speak to and with children on a moment by moment basis at school, if you do the same at home together we can support your child's mindset and their wellbeing !

亲切的问候,

सधन्यवाद

Neill

Principal

Notice from the School Nurse

The flu season is upon us and the Centre for Health Protection states it usually lasts for around 16 weeks. In school we are seeing the number of students with fevers slowly rising and we have had a handful of confirmed cases of Influenza B throughout the year groups.

Please continue to monitor for signs of influenza at home and seek medical advice if you are concerned. If your child has a fever, they should not be back in school until 48 hours after the fever has subsided, without the need for any medication.

If you wish to know more about the seasonal flu vaccination, please visit the following Centre for Health Protection webpage https://www.chp.gov.hk/en/features/18877.html or contact your family doctor.

To help us manage illness throughout the school please always inform your child's class teacher and the school nurse or school office if your child is unable to attend school.

PTA Update

School Disco

We are extremely excited about our ‘Red and Gold' School Disco on Friday.  The event will run from 5:30 to 7:30pm on the first floor.  Kindly note that all other areas of the school will be closed and only the first floor will be open and supervised for the disco.  Children are advised to remain on the first floor at all times for safety reasons.

Tickets are still available at the PTA office at $110 for children and $130 for adults.  Each ticket gives you a free drink and a light buffet.  Come dressed in a touch of red and gold and don't forget your dancing shoes.  Prizes will be given out to the best-dressed girl and boy as well as the best dancers so be sure not to miss out on what promises to be a great evening.

We could use some help at the disco.  If you would like to volunteer for 30 minutes or more, please let us know at the PTA office.  Parents/ carers to come into the school to collect children after the disco (7:30pm sharp).

School Fair

Raffle tickets for the school fair will be sent home around the second week of February. A letter with details of the selling of raffle tickets will be enclosed as well.

We are still looking for items for the auction. If you would like to donate items for this, please get in touch with the PTA office.

Our international food stalls are one of the attractions at the fair. If you would like to be help at an international food stall or be a team leader, please join us for a meeting on Wednesday 24 January 2018 from 11am to 12pm in the D&T Room on the 4th floor.

Lots of volunteers are needed for the fair. If you would like to help, please do let us know.  Assisting us anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes can make a huge difference.

Thanks so much.
