I do hope you considered how you might support your child to have ‘success' at KJS and home by how you speak to and encourage your child. Since last week win addition to the amazing school disco (the moves were awesome!) the leadership team have been involved in the admissions process. What the admissions process has made clear to me is that KJS is held in very high regard in Hong Kong. Our challenge is to live up to that reputation and keep working hard to ensure “Success for Every Child”. You can help us to be the best we can be! I ask that you take 5 minutes of your time to write to me (neill.oreilly@kjs.edu.hk 1) telling us something that is going really well (successful) for your child so we can pass it onto the staff and encourage them or something you think we can do better. The more we hear from you the more likely we are to ensure KJS is the best it can be and is living up to the reputation it has in Hong Kong. I look forward to hearing from you! Kind Regards 亲切的问候, सधन्यवाद Neill O'Reilly Principal Term 3 Teacher Training Day - 30 April (no classes for children)Parents please note that Monday 30 April will be teacher training day on Term 3. There will be no classes for children. Year 6 Food DriveYear 6 are organising a Food Drive for two weeks starting the week beginning Monday 29 January. If you would like to help please bring food items in to school and put them in the box outside the school office. These foods include canned and packaged foods, it would be even better if you can bring types of food that people like to eat at Chinese new year, such as dried shrimp. All the food will be delivered to Feeding Hong Kong (a non government organisation that will distribute the food) on Friday 9 February. Let's all work together to better the community, Thank you. KGV Taster Day PhotosPlease click here for photos of the KGV Taster Day on Tuesday 23 January Y5 and Y6 Parent Consultation with Mandarin Teachers - 27 February2018Parents please be reminded that Parent Consultation with Mandarin Teachers will be held on Tuesday 27 February. There will be no Chinese class for that day. Registration on Gateway will be opened on Thursday 25 January at 9am. PTA UpdateSchool Disco Night We had a great turnout at our ‘Red and Gold' disco with a number of students who dressed up for the occasion including a few parents. Children displayed some great dance moves and four prizes were given out to the best dancers of the evening. I would like to thank all the teachers, parents and KGV Year 7 students who helped at the disco. The stage was filled with enthusiasm and great dancers, the school hall was filled with energy and excitement, our bar was busy, and our hairspray and headband counters were in full swing from start to finish. All this was only possible through our joint efforts as a community. Thank you! School Fair Our next PTA event will be the School Fair on Saturday, 17 March 2018. Preparations are already underway. We will have games, a White Elephant stall, a book sale, food stalls and vendors selling a variety of things. We had a meeting with the International Food Stall Leaders this morning and it went well. We discussed the proper handling of food as outlined by the ESF guidelines and limiting use of paper products to reduce waste. Team leaders did suggest that we encourage parents and children to bring in their own food containers when purchasing food from the stalls and we agree. Please do bring your own empty food containers to the fair in an effort to be more environmental-friendly. We need more items for the school auction. If you have anything you would like to donate, please do approach the PTA office. School Lunches If you have concerns or suggestions regarding the school lunches provided by Sodexo, please do email the PTA office at pta@kjs.edu.hk so we can address these issues as soon as possible. Student SuccessBrandon (3A) and his brother Matias participated in the "Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon - Family Run". Brandon was enthusiastic throughout the run and was keen to encourage younger participants along the way. He would like to share this with the KJS community!
