Dear Parents,

Thank you to those who took the time to write to me after last weeks newsletter invitation. It was great to have both positive and constructive feedback.

Book week is fast approaching. This week is an important reminder to us of the power and influence of the written word. I would like to encourage you to prepare for a “Home Book Week” You could:

  • Find a great book to share over the week
  • Model just reading
  • Switch off the TV and read at agreed times
  • Talk about your favourite books / authors with your children
  • Invite grandparents to read to children
  • Invite children to read some of their favourite stories to you

Whatever you do, take some time next week to join with your children as they focus on books, don’t leave it all to us, where home and school work together anything is possible and what is better than to engender a love of reading in our children!

Feel free to email me with some special things you did as a family in book week, and remember….

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”   Dr. Seuss

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.Charles William Eliot

Kind Regards

亲切的问候,

सधन्यवाद

Calling All Young Designers!

We would like to design and make woodworking benches to put on the 4th floor in the shared space and we want your help. We are in need of two different sizes for the benches; 1 for lower primary and 1 for upper primary.

There are a few things you need to think about and incorporate into your design:

  • It should be heavy, sturdy and safe enough to handle different sorts of woodwork (please label the materials needed for your design)
  • There should be a way to hold the wood in place so it doesn’t move around when working
  • The height should be about as tall as the users hip bones (please include measurements)

If you would like to participate in this challenge, please submit your detailed designs with the measurements to Mrs. Doucette before next Tuesday.

All designs will be taken into consideration. Best of luck!
