Welcome from the Principal
Welcome to Kowloon Junior School (KJS) which is a large 5 form entry Primary school of 900 students from Year 1 to Year 6, spread over two campuses in the Kowloon area of Hong Kong. Our Perth Street campus accommodates Year 1 to 3 children and the Rose Street campus houses our Year 4 to Year 6 students.
KJS is part of ESF (English Schools Foundation) and is a school with a long and esteemed history. Although originally founded in 1902 as the Kowloon British School catering exclusively for expatriates. Today KJS serves a far broader and more culturally diverse community with students from more than 25 countries; including both local and expatriate families.
KJS follows the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP). The PYP curriculum framework allows the school to incorporate the best educational practice from UK, Australia and New Zealand and places a great deal of emphasis on developing international mindedness; positive learner attitudes; and shared educational and personal values.
I am sure that several aspects of life at KJS will stand out as you look through our school’s website. First and foremost you will notice the photographs of happy and confident students who genuinely enjoy coming to school; and who are enthusiastic and motivated about their learning. In addition you will recognise the tremendous commitment and dedication of the KJS staff to providing the students with the highest quality learning and teaching experience, within a caring and supportive environment. Finally, you will realize that the school has excellent relationships with the community including strong home-school links. This association is long established and built on a strong foundation of mutual trust and respect.
Kind regards
Mark Cripps
