Kowloon Junior School (KJS) is one of the primary schools under the English Schools Foundation (ESF), the largest provider of English-medium international education in Hong Kong, and is a very large, well-established five form entry school catering for 900 students from Year 1 to Year 6.  It is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is an IB World School. Teaching and learning at KJS is rich in inquiry and underpinned by a rigorous approach to pedagogy and practice.

Our school accommodates up to 30 classes, 5 classes at each year level and the maximum class size is 30 pupils. To assist each child to develop to their full potential in all areas, a balanced programme of academic, social, physical and cultural activities is offered at KJS.

All of the classrooms have interactive whiteboards, full wireless connectivity, and access to a bank of laptop computers and mobile devices.

The current staff are outstanding educators. Whilst they originally hail from UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or American, many have been in Hong Kong for many years.

Hong Kong culture values education and at KJS, parents are very supportive. The students are wonderful and the staff are amazing. It is a wonderful place to teach.

Mainscale Class Teacher (Temporary)

KJS is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced classroom teacher. This position will be a full-time temporary contract from 11 August 2017 to 29 June 2018. A two-year finite contract starting from August 2018 may be offered to the successful candidate with satisfactory performance in 2017-2018.

The successful candidate will be a talented and accomplished primary teacher with the required knowledge, skills and understanding to work closely with an experienced team of educators, dedicated to catering for the needs of all children in their care. They will have an excellent understanding of the Primary Years Programme. Educational Assistant – Classroom

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Kowloon Junior School (KJS) for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to join our team in mid/late April 2016.

This position is a full time role, working directly with children in the classroom, under the teachers’ supervision. Preparation of materials is also an aspect of the position, as is the supervision of children at break times, if appropriate.

Whilst previous experience of working in a primary school would be an advantage, our main goal at KJS is to employ staff who are confident and comfortable working with groups of children across the primary phase, and be passionate about learning. You will have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude with lots of energy and enthusiasm. You will have excellent organisational skills and relish working as part of a team. Student Counsellor

An exciting opportunity has arisen at KJS for an enthusiastic and experienced counsellor to join our team from September 2017 to June 2018. This will be a part time role – 10 hours a month (negotiable working days).

The successful candidate will be a talented and accomplished counsellor with the required knowledge, skills and understanding to work closely with an experienced team of educators, dedicated to catering for the needs of all children in their care.

We are looking for someone with a warm personality coupled with strong interpersonal skills, which will enable you to communicate effectively with all members of the school community.

In addition to being an exemplary practitioner and excellent team player, the successful candidate will also be extremely well organised, and possess excellent spoken and written English skills.

Accounting Officer

Kowloon Junior School is now seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our existing support staff team from April/May 2017.

The post holder will work closely with the HR & Finance Assistant in handling all accounting tasks and report directly to the HR & Finance Manager.

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary educated in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in Accounting or Audit
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese), both written and spoken
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Hands-on experience in accounting software, preferably Epicor
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Confidence in using and learning new computer systems
  • Experience in multicultural working environment

Desirable Criteria

  • Fluency in Mandarin

Admissions Officer

KJS is now seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our existing support staff team as an Admissions Officer from March 2017.

The post holder will serve as the first contact point of the school for prospective parents, and handle all tasks in relation to admissions and student data. Provision of support to the School Council and the school’s Senior Leadership Team will also be part of his/her responsibilities.
