People Explore to Understand the World

yr1

We can been focusing on sentence ordering and exploring what begins a sentence and what comes at the end. We have discussed what makes a good sentence and have linked this to our writing targets. All children have been attempting to implement this into their writing. Can you spot the mistakes in the sentence below?

The children have been continuing their exploration of pattern and focusing mainly on translating patterns. We have looked at the concept of translation and discussed how it can be used in languages and to change something so it looks like something else. The pattern below has three elements and two terms. Can you translate it so that it still has three elements and two terms but looks different? Have a go!

We have been continuing to inquire into exploration and linking it to reflection, discussing what an explorer knows (concepts and knowledge), what an explorer does (skills) and what an explorer is (attitudes). The children are demonstrating how they are explorers when undertaking guided inquiries such as, ‘What grows?’ and ‘What floats and sinks in water?’ The children have loved playing with the water trays and experimenting with different materials – they are becoming super scientists! What scientific tool are the children using below?
