Yr2 Weekly Update – 01/26/17

The choices we make affect our well-being

This week we have been busy concluding our work on our well-being unit. Every class has been reflecting on what they have enjoyed learning about most and have been thinking about the skills which they have developed over the past six weeks. These include resolving conflict, making healthy lifestyle choices, being balanced and committed. Our students have also set themselves a well-being target they hope to work on next.  Here are some of their ideas.

With the excitement of Chinese New Year we have been reminding ourselves why people celebrate this festival and have looked at some of the special ways it is celebrated. We have also made some beautiful chinese inspired crafts and really enjoyed watching the KJS Assembly which some of our Year 2 students took part in.

Literacy and Maths

In literacy this week the children have focused on writing detailed reflections on their learning and have tried hard to explain how they feel about the progress they have made. In Maths we have revised all the mental strategies we have learnt to add and subtract numbers and have reflected on the learning approaches the boys and girls like to use to help them learn, for example by themselves, with other students or by listening to the teacher’s explanations first.

We hope you all have a happy and relaxing holiday with family and friends!

Reminders

We always encourage our children to make healthy food choices. Here are some delicious snack ideas from class 2M to help you plan your child’s snacks during and after the holidays.
