Unit of Inquiry

This is the final week of our current Unit and children have been working on their summative assessments.  They were given a scenario of two million more people coming to Hong Kong and they had to add, take away and change buildings, parks, roads, tunnels, bridges and other spaces in Hong Kong to demonstrate their understanding of how population changes affect the environment..

Maths

Classes are finishing their work on fractions this week and next week we will be moving on to measurement.  You may like to ask your child if they can show you some fractions of shapes, fractions on a line (labelled 0-1) and fractions in a collection of objects.

Literacy

As part of our Summative Assessment for this Unit, children have been writing expositions on changes in Hong Kong.  Children have identified what they consider to be the  “good news” and the “bad news” and used these ideas to form an exposition.

In reading we have continued to work on inferring what the author is showing the reader (rather than telling the reader).
