Unit of Inquiry

Children have been researching the journey that food takes from farm to table. Many have brought in food packaging from home and used details on their snack wrappers to find out and record where they were made. Further research was done to try and discover where the contents/ingredients may have originated from.

Maths

Most classes continued to work on measurement this week. And linked to the books written by the  author David Shwartz, who visited KJS this week, many tried to work out how high/far they could jump by measuring their height and comparing that to the distance a frog could jump.

Some classes have also begun looking at repeating and growing patterns.

Literacy

Classes have been finishing work on exposition writing and looking at the language of persuasive texts. We will start looking at flowcharts in relation to the genre of explanation texts and link this with where and how we get our food.

Efarm Trip

Next week year 3 will visit E Farm, as part of the UOI about food. Each class will be going on a different day and on this occasion we do not require any parent helpers. Please ensure that your child has a snack, packed lunch and water bottle.

School Fair

We really appreciated all the help from the year 3 parents who gave up their time  to help at the games stalls last Saturday. The school fair would not be as successful without you.

Kind regards, Year 3 team.
