Dear Parents,

Kung Hei Fat Choi,

As we head toward Chinese New Year, we are celebrating the special time in our community by having our own Chinese New Year Virtual Celebration Assemble (VCA) this Friday. Keep your eyes out for this on Friday evening. It could be a fun activity to enjoy watching the VCA with your children over the weekend as we head toward the Year of the Ox, denoting hard work, positivity and honesty. Three characteristics that we can well do with in this age, locally and globally. It might be an appropriate time to talk with your children and share what these characteristics mean to you as parents and have your child share how they might work harder, be more honest and positive in the year ahead.  You could also talk about the connection between the Year of the Ox and our KJS PYP Learner Profile attributes. Please take particular note of the descriptors as developed by the Student Council at the bottom of each of the attributes.

Perhaps you could support your child to set some goals, and you could model goal setting and perhaps even some family goals related to the Year of the Ox and the Learner Profile?

Enjoy supporting your child’s character development with an international mindset through the Year of the Ox and the PYP Learner Profile Attributes.

Kind regards

Library News

Book Week is back! The Library Team is excited to share with you events that will be happening from 1-5 March. Please click here for a comprehensive slideshow of the planned activities.

In particular, we want your help in a few areas.

To launch off Book Week, we will have a Book Dress Up Day. Teachers may have fun activities planned with your child on Zoom where they can model the wonderful outfit with the book they have. Please send some of your amazing pictures to us of your child dressed up holding the book like the photos above.

At the end of each day, we’re looking to read books in different home languages for students to select. If you are interested in volunteering 15 minutes of your time between 2:45-3:00 to read a story in your home language, please let us know.

Thank you to all those who have sent in pictures of your child reading. We want more! Please send us your pictures of your favourite book and we’ll make sure to have it on our KJS Virtual Library and on the walls of our library.

Please email Ms. Lau at macy.lau@kjs.edu.hk with any questions and please send in those pictures!
