Dear KJS Families,

The PYP Exhibition is now very much ‘in full swing'. Staff Mentors are supporting our year six students with their research, and they will soon begin to offer workshops to upskill our students for the action component of the process. The PYP Exhibition process is designed to enable our students to authentically take the lead in their own learning. This is facilitated by students identifying and connecting with their interests and discovering opportunities to serve outside of themselves. The PYP Exhibition Showcase is scheduled for June 2nd, and we will be sharing details so that our entire community can access and celebrate this wonderful festival of learning at KJS.

Shortly after the PYP Exhibition, of course, will be our Year Six Graduation. This landmark event provides an opportunity for our students and families to reflect on and celebrate a very special part of their lives. At this stage, we are still working through the possibilities of how this might look and will share details at the earliest available opportunity. Hopefully, we will be able to hold it in-person in some form.

In the spirit of sharing learning and teaching across the school, year four students are inquiring into expression through the arts. To support student learning, the year four team members are running and inviting other staff members to run a range of expressive arts workshops. The purpose of the workshops is to provide students with a range of experiences to enrich their understanding of expression through the arts, emphasising that feeling, as well as thinking, is a vital component of artistic expression.

Kind regards,

Dr Jamie Schmitz

Principal
