Dear KJS Families,

Thank you very much for taking the time to engage in our Three-Way Conferences last week. We sincerely hope that the opportunity to hear from your child about learning was encouraging, insightful, and useful. We also hope that the experience reflected the regular and authentic thinking and learning discussions that I have witnessed

The KJS PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held via Zoom yesterday afternoon and, as part of the agenda, much-loved Chair, Ms. Saloni Melwani, formally stepped down from her position. After many years of dedicated service to the KJS community, Saloni kindly offered to support KJS in a much more informal and behind-the-scenes manner. On behalf of the KJS community, I would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Saloni for all that she has done for us.

While it is sad to see Saloni step down, it is also exciting to congratulate and welcome our new PTA Chairperson, Ms. Anna Rayton. We look forward to working with Anna in her new role.

Years five and six students will be heading off on their respective day camps over the next two weeks, and we are thrilled to be able to provide this great outdoor education experience through our provider, APA.. The context of learning outside of the classroom is incredibly important, as it gives our students the opportunity to learn and apply new and existing knowledge, skills, and concepts in dynamic, collaborative, and appropriately challenging environments. It is not possible to adequately simulate these types of learning experiences on campus, even with technology such as virtual reality. Needless to say that our students (and staff - me included) are feeling very excited.

Kind regards,

Dr Jamie Schmitz

Acting Principal
