Dear Parents,
Along with all ESF schools this week, KJS has been mourning the sudden loss of Vicky Bewsey, Principal of Tsing Yi Kindergarten. Vicky holds a special place in the heart of KJS families as many of our children began their learning journey at Tsing Yi under the leadership of Vicky. We have expressed our sincere condolences to the staff of Tsing Yi and to Vicky’s family. We also met as staff on Monday morning as a sign of respect and also to talk about some of the questions and worries children might have on hearing the news. If your child has concerns, once again we encourage you to help them talk about their feelings and reassure them that it is normal to feel a range of emotions from sadness to worry, confusion and in some cases not knowing how to feel. It is at times like this that conversations at home are critical to support the social and emotional development of our children.
On another note I am so pleased to tell you that we have had a far more settled week outside the school gate. Following the Human Chain protest where we started late, the protestors told me it would be unlikely they would be back in the area in the short term as they felt their message had been received by the High School. This has been the case and our mornings have been trouble free.
Finally, I am pleased to advise we have selected our Musical for 2019/20. Dr. Dolittle will be performed in March and Years 4-6 will soon be invited to auditions (details to come). I am sure there will be great interest in this wonderful musical so advance warning, auditions can lead to children not being successful in winning a part and it is possible not all children will secure a role. As always, we will do all we can to be inclusive.
Kind regards
亲切的问候,
सधन्यवाद
