Dear parents,

Did you know your own beliefs about Maths will impact on their achievement? As the final session in the newsletter focus on maths we encourage you to read this research.

What we do and say and the feedback we give our children makes a difference!

Did you know we have an emerging trend at school, phone, internet capable and camera watches? We have noticed a growing number of children coming to school with watches that are a phone, can access the internet and have a camera. Please note if your child has one of these devices so that you can stay in touch they will need to remove it during the school day for the safety of all. There is a significant risk to children when others have access to cameras, the web and phone lines without teacher supervision. Please support the school and our efforts to keep all children safe by ensuring your child does not come to school wearing these types of devices.

Do you have a drone we can use? We are currently developing a short movie “All about KJS” for new staff and new members to our school community. We need a drone for some of the footage the team want. Can you help us? If so please contact the office.

Did you know the PYPX is coming up? Look out for a special newsletter publication this Friday from our Year 6 students to showcase their work.

Enjoy the rest of the week and the beautiful weather!

HELPER APPRECIATION and INFORMATION SESSION

The PTA and our Y6 students are organising a ‘Helper Appreciation and Information Session' as part of KJS Action Day from 2.00-2.45 pm on Thursday 31 May. In the past this event has been an ‘Aunty Party' where parents have sent along their domestic helpers and their children have presented the helpers with a homemade card. We would like to hold the event again this year to show our appreciation for these wonderful ladies and also offer some information about healthy snacks and ideas to reduce plastic packaging for the students snacks and lunches. Y6 students will present information rather than cards; however, KJS students will be given the opportunity to write thank you messages to their helpers which will be displayed for the whole community to see.

Details on how to create the appreciation messages will be given to all students by those exhibition groups involved this week. All students whose helpers attend the session will be released from their classes at approximately 2.30 pm to share the last part of the event with their helper.

All domestic helper participants will enjoy a tea party with cakes & treats provided by Ms Hong, our bakery tutor from Flour.  These cakes will be healthy option recipes and can be baked without using lots of individual packaging.  Copies of the recipes will be available so the whole family can enjoy them at home.

If you would like to sign up your helper to attend the Helper Appreciation and Information Session on Thursday 31 May 2-2.45 please complete the following form so we can plan refreshments accordingly.

Advance Fees and Student Withdrawal

A message was sent from ESF to all parents regarding advance fees for the 2018/19 academic year. You may also view the message here.

If you are withdrawing your child at the end of this academic year, please complete the student withdrawal notice and return it to the school office via email by 1 June 2018. Otherwise, ESF will assume that your child is returning after summer and parents are liable to the tuition fees for September 2018 even if the student does not return to school.
