Dear Parents,

What an incredible term we have had! Thank you for your persistence, patience, and support as we have worked to return to some sort of normality.

Thank you to the parents who have provided feedback on the timetable as we transitioned to 100% in school. There is only one slight change to our timetable as we head into Term 3. Starting on Monday 12 April, the morning session will finish at 12:45pm in an attempt to get our children who travel long distances from school to home at a reasonable hour for lunch.

We will be sending devices home with Y4-6 (and Y3 in need) on Friday as a contingency just in case the situation changes over the holiday. Our plan and wish is to be back in school, so if all goes according to plan please ensure your child brings back devices on the first Monday back.

Our Virtual Celebration Assembly this week celebrates the Learner Profile attribute of ‘Thinker”. Do enjoy watching that with your children, and as we head into the holiday please encourage and support creative, reflective, and critical thinking as you enjoy some together time with your family. Take care, stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you again next term as we strive for success for every child at KJS!

Kind regards

Neill O’Reilly

Message from our Music Department

It was great seeing parents joining our Expressive Arts information session last Thursday and Friday. It was a good opportunity for the department to share with you the music program and the opportunities that our students have to showcase their artistic talents schoolwide.

In the information sessions, we addressed there may be some questions regarding your child’s music development and instrumental learning. Please refer to the FAQ information attached for some general guidance – click here.

Library News

Dear Parents,

As we head off into the Easter holidays, I want to remind everyone the following resources to keep you busy.

KJS Virtual Library “Fun and Helpful Websites”

If you have a chance, please visit our KJS Virtual Library Fun and Helpful Websites page. You can click on the link here. Students can listen to the author read aloud some of their own books and follow illustrators who demonstrate how to draw their characters. Students can go on virtual field trips, watch live animal cameras, and venture into space. If you want to learn another language or learn to code, you can visit our library recommended websites.

School Epic accounts can still be accessed during school hours from Monday to Friday 8am to 3pm. Please use class codes to access as usual during the holidays. Two hours of reading is available after school per week. If you wish to read beyond two hours, parents will need to subscribe through EPIC.

There is also a KJS ebook library. Students can access our ebooks and audiobooks through Wheelers ePlatform. Login and password information can be found on our Library Splat page.

Although Book Week is over, we are still collecting photos to decorate our library and our virtual website. During the holidays, please take your child’s favourite reading poses and send them to Ms. Lau at macy.lau@kjs.edu.hk.

Have a wonderful Easter holiday!
