Dear KJS Families,

As we move closer to The Year of the Tiger and the accompanying break, our students continue to show their resilience and love of learning at a distance. Our teachers and educational assistants are working hard to engage and energise our students so that they feel connected and focused as they learn. I have really enjoyed spending some time in Zoom sessions with our students and, while it is certainly not the same as in-person learning at KJS, the technology that we are able to leverage is certainly something to be appreciated.

Please be reminded that our Mid-Year Reports will ‘go live’ on Thursday afternoon. An access guide was sent last week via the ESF App, so, hopefully, you will be able to see and read them without technical difficulty. We are very pleased that these reports have been informed by in-person learning data and hope that this is predominately the case at the end of the school year.

Finally, our wonderful KJS Chinese Team has prepared a virtual assembly for our students that will be shared on Friday.  Ms. Doucette has captured our feelings of gratitude nicely with the words below.

The Chinese team were disappointed when they found out that this couldn’t go forward as a face to face assembly as much planning had already gone into the celebration and booking a Lion Dance troupe.

However, they wanted to make sure that the students and community had an opportunity to celebrate and recognise this very special holiday and they quickly switched gears to put together this virtual assembly.

I want to thank the team for being so adaptable and for their unwavering dedication to Chinese learning at KJS!

The assembly contains an uplifting array of student performances that will be enjoyed by all.

I wish you all a safe and fulfilling Chinese New Year holiday.

Kind regards,

Dr Jamie Schmitz

Acting Principal
