Library News

The Library Team is excited to announce that we’ve subscribed to two online resources that will support children’s love for reading and support Distance Learning at home. Both resources have been added to our Library Splat page with automatic login to the website so that a password is not required.

Here are the details of the two databases:

Teachers and students have always loved reading National Geographic magazines in the past. This virtual library means that you are now able to access issues as far back as 2009! Along with magazines, students can access books, videos and more, anytime of the day . Engage your children with the beloved collection that includes content appropriate for kids in areas of science, nature, space, archaeology and culture.

Here are two tutorials to bring you up to speed on how to navigate your way around Nat Geo Kid Virtual Library.

National Geographic Kids – Rock Your Projects

National Geographic Kids – Spark Your Child’s Curiosity

Gale in Context is another trusted research database that is used amongst ESF secondary schools. This tool will enhance our suite of research tools available to students in addition to Pebble Go, Pebble Next and Britannica. We are delighted that students will now be able to find results for global goals related to their exhibition, where in the past, we had to research external sources of information on the internet. With this database, students can explore in an ad-free and safe environment with text suitable for primary level children.

Please have a look at the following three tutorials to learn how you can use the resource.

Gale In Context: Elementary – Enhance Elementary Education

Gale In Context: Elementary – Make Learning a Blast

Gale In Context: Elementary – Fun and Reliable Learning

We hope you enjoy these new additions to our Library online resources. Have fun exploring and reading!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the Library.
