You know about our AAROW’s of success and especially Agency (Voice Choice and Ownership). Accordingly I hand the rest of my newsletter notice to our new 2019/20 Student Leaders at KJS….
On Friday 23 August we had a Student Leadership Retreat day where all members of the Student Council met and discussed about who we are, what makes a good leader and our vision for the year ahead at KJS.
Some of our highlights of the day was meeting Mrs Greer and Mr O’Reilly and having interesting conversations about the qualities needed to be a successful leader and leadership mindsets. During our brain break we entertained ourselves with a fun game where we had to role play actions according to the letters in our name.
We ended our meeting by speaking about our vision for the school community and sharing this at our school assembly that afternoon. The student council’s vision is to support ‘Success for Every Child through a positive, cohesive and sustainable KJS community’. We are looking forward to developing as leaders in the Year Ahead and achieving our vision.
Prisha (6E) and Claire (6A) on behalf of the Student Council
Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you next week!

Parent Workshop: “What Matters: Effects and Side Effects of Education
In this presentation, Professor Yong Zhao brings extensive evidence to show that every child has both potential and need to become great. To help each and every child achieve their greatness, we need a different kind of education that focuses on enhancing the unique strengths and passion of each child. Education is to help each and every child discover and develop their strengths and passions with the goal to create value for others and the world. To do so, we need to make education personalizable by the child, instead of personalized for the child.
It will take place on Saturday 7 September at Quarry Bay School, from 9.00 to 10.30am. This is on a first-come, first-served – maximum 300 places
