Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to see so many of you here last Thursday for the Three Way Learning Conferences. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive from staff, parents and children. How wonderful to see parents partnering with the school to support their children to be successful! If you are booked in this week, please make sure you bring your child. It is not the same without them present! Here is a quick survey to give us feedback on the process and to help us continually refine the process that our partnership leads to “Success for Every Child”. Please take 10 minutes of your time to help us best support your child.

Thank you to the many families who are supporting their children to have Opportunity to Achieve through both our school musical and our Diwali Assembly. This is our AAROW's of Success in action, even if children did not make it through the audition. The fact that children were prepared to put themselves forward, take a risk and look for opportunity to extend themselves, is one of the many strengths of KJS and evidences parents who care for, and support their children, to be the best that they can be. The number of children auditioning for both activities also evidences the way the arts are valued at KJS.

Next Monday, staff will be focussing on three main themes on our continuous professional development (CPD) day. We will continue with our focus on wellbeing, explore best practice regarding inclusive strategies and explore the latest technology systems to support learner agency, wellbeing and achievement. It will be an action packed day. Thank you for your support and we hope you enjoy the long weekend this creates for your children.

Kind regards

亲切的问候,

सधन्यवाद

Neill O'Reilly

Principal

Reminder: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Rehearsal

Parents please be reminded that all cast members and choir need to attend rehearsal on Saturday 3 November from 9am to 3:30pm. The rehearsal start time has moved slightly earlier. They should bring a snack and lunch, and parents should collect them at the end of the session.

Redress Clothing Drive

The Year 4 students have organized a Redress clothing drive. Redress is an organization that is trying to cut down clothing waste in Hong Kong.

Important Information:

You can help us by donating unwanted clothing in the boxes outside the office between 24 October to 16 November.

Please donate good quality clothes for men, women and children including accessories and shoes. Please do not send in swimwear and underwear or poor quality shoes.

Thank you for your support!

PTA Update

Pre-ordered winter uniforms are ready for collection from the PTA office.  Kindly please make your way there any time between 8:00am to 11:00am and 2:30pm to 3:30pm.

Uniforms that have not been collected by the Friday morning, 2 November 2018, will be sent to your child's classroom and the uniforms can then be collected from their teacher.

Bingo Night will be held on Friday, 23 November 2018 in the Gymnasium on the 4th floor.  Details are listed in the flyer attached.  Please note the change in date.

This will be a family-oriented event, so no alcohol please.

In moving towards being a sustainable school, we ask that you bring your own reusuable bottle of water which you can refill at the event.

We need some parents to help us at Bingo Night.  If you are free and would like to get involved, please get in touch with us.

Preparations are already underway for our biggest event of the year – our School Fair – which will be held on Saturday, 16 March 2019.

We need your help – we are looking for sponsorships, donations and volunteers for the event.  Please approach us at the PTA office if you can help.

Every year we run a licensed school raffle at the fair.  We need raffle prizes and would be grateful if you could sponsor some prizes.

Thank you so much.

Student Success

We are delighted families are regularly sharing their children's success at home with us at KJS. To help manage the large amount of information the school sends home, we will channel the celebration of success to our Facebook page leaving the newsletter with the key weekly messages and important dates. You can find the school's Facebook here. Please keep the photos and stories coming of our children shooting the AAROW's of Success!
