Yr3 Curriculum Update – 18/05/18

Working together to achieve success for every child

Central Idea:  Artists can use scientific principles to create.

We have had a busy week finishing off our Unit of inquiry and had an opportunity to do a ‘gallery walk’ around all of the year 3 classrooms.  We were able to observe and learn what others had been doing in their own rooms and it gave us ideas of what else we would like to explore more of.  We reflected on the gallery walk experience and recorded the new ideas we now have for our final artistic creation. What a fun unit this has been for us!

Next week we begin our new unit of inquiry “How we organize ourselves.”  The children will be thinking about the journey that food goes through from field/farm to table.

Maths

We have continued to learn about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and some of us have transferred our knowledge of shape into different art and craft activities.  Next in maths we will be learning about probability.

English

We have been learning all about story writing.  Some of the children were inspired by Shakespeare, while others were keen to create their own. This is always a fun area where children can showcase their personality and imagination through their writing.
