Kowloon Junior School Parent Teacher Association

The Kowloon Junior School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is non-profit organization established to provide the opportunity to facilitate close cooperation and contact between parents of students of KJS and teachers for the promotion of education and to support the school for the general welfare of all students.
 
The group provides opportunities for discussion on educational matters, manages and operates the uniform shop on both the Perth and Rose Street campuses, and, when appropriate, reflects parental concerns to the School and/or the English Schools Foundation. The PTA also raises funds to support the school with the purchase of necessary equipment for the enhancement of children’s education which funding is not supplied by ESF.
 
 
Objectives
 
1.      To promote co-operation between the parents of students of KJS and the teachers for the promotion of education.
 
2.      To facilitate the discussion between parents and the teachers on matters relating to the education offered by the School including but not limited to:
 
a.       The School’s curriculum;
b.      The quality of education provided at the School;
c.       The assessment of, and school reports on the Students; and
d.      The behavior of the Students
 
3.      To organize extra-curricular and other supporting activities for the students and to provide or assist in providing, through financial and other support, educational aids, facilities and materials for students;
 
4.      To raise, accept and collect funds, and to organize any lawful activities as decided by the Committee to support the Association and the school and/or for the purposes of carrying out or achieving any charitable objects herein contained and/or to make donations to any charitable organizations;
 
5.      To support the School and to improve the educational environment of the School for the benefits of the students;
 
6.      To provide opportunities for the Parents to take an active part in the life of the School with a view to promoting the education of the Students;
 
7.      To provide opportunities for the Parents and for the members of the Association to meet and discuss on general education matters;
 
8.      Subject to the discretion of the Committee, to represent the views of any parents to the Foundation, the School Council of the School or any board of governors or any other management body or committee of the Foundation or to any body or committee representing the interest of the Parents under the ESF Ordinance;
 
9.      To operate the uniform shop at both the Perth and Rose Street campuses; and
 
10. To carry out and perform all and any other acts, works, enterprises or things as are of a charitable nature;
 
 
Membership
 
By virtue of The English Schools Foundation Ordinance, the parents of each student of an ESF school are parent members of the PTA of that school. The membership fee for the KJSPTA is HK$150 per family per year, payable by the parent during the first month of the academic year.  Payment can be made by cheque payable to the “Kowloon Junior School Parent Teacher Association”.

Opening hours:
Perth Street (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:15 am to 11:00 am)
Rose Street (every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:15 am to 11:00 am)
 
 
Uniform Order Form
 
In order to minimize the waiting time when purchasing uniform at the shop, parents are encouraged to place the uniform order in advance by send in a cheque together with the completed order form (link to the pdf uniform order form) to the PTA Office. The uniform orders will be sent to you via your child.

Recent Projects Undertaken by PTA
 
The following were some highlights of PTA initiatives over the past years:
  • Funded the purchase and installation of interactive white boards and laptop computers for classrooms
  • Upgraded the sound and lighting systems for the school halls
  • Purchased books for the school libraries
  • Introduced new school uniform
  • Installed new furniture in Perth Street Library
 
Coming soon…..
  • Will fund the building of a multi-media centre (studio) in Rose Street. The studio will be run by the students during lunch time, where they will learn to produce short audio programmes and shows
