Kowloon Junior School (KJS) is one of the primary schools under the English Schools Foundation (ESF), the largest provider of English-medium international education in Hong Kong, and is a very large, well-established five form entry school catering for 900 students from Year 1 to Year 6.  It is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is an IB World School. Teaching and learning at KJS is rich in inquiry and underpinned by a rigorous approach to pedagogy and practice.

Our school accommodates up to 30 classes, 5 classes at each year level and the maximum class size is 30 pupils. To assist each child to develop to their full potential in all areas, a balanced programme of academic, social, physical and cultural activities is offered at KJS.

All of the classrooms have interactive whiteboards, full wireless connectivity, and access to a bank of laptop computers and mobile devices.

The current staff are outstanding educators. Whilst they originally hail from UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or American, many have been in Hong Kong for many years.

Hong Kong culture values education and at KJS, parents are very supportive. The students are wonderful and the staff are amazing. It is a wonderful place to teach.

Cleaner / Workman 校工

Main duties:

  • To keep all designated areas clean and tidy at all times
  • To carry out day-to-day cleaning, disinfecting, minor maintenance and repair work
  • To assist in woodworking projects
  • To assist in setting up of venues for school events, including moving furniture and equipment when needed
  • To assist in gardening work e.g. plant watering
  • To handle other assigned duties

Teacher Librarian

KJS is looking for a Teacher Librarian to join our team from August 2019.

The successful candidate will be a talented and enthusiastic teacher with the required knowledge and skills to manage a primary school library. He/She will have an excellent understanding of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and information literacy to support students across the primary phase and to realise the full potential of the library as a centre of learning. In addition, knowledge of the enhanced PYP and having a recognised library qualification would be beneficial.

Whilst a library qualification is desirable, the successful candidate will be someone who is passionate about learning and has a love of books. He/She will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and energetic individual who is a great team player with strong interpersonal skills and a warm personality, very well organised and possesses excellent spoken and written English skills.

Expressive Arts Coordinator (Specialism in Music)

KJS is seeking to appoint an Expressive Arts Coordinator. This position will be a full-time two years finite contract with a possible teaching and learning responsibility allowance (TLR3) starting August 2019, renewable by mutual consent.

The Expressive Arts Coordinator will work to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to Music, Dance, Drama & Performance across the whole school.

Essential Criteria

  • hold qualified primary teacher status
  • be student-focused and set high expectations in terms of music and other expressive arts
  • have specialist music qualification
  • ability to play a range of instruments to a high standard

Desirable Criteria

  • currently working as a Music Coordinator/ Expressive Arts Coordinator
  • proven track record of developing expressive arts across the primary phase
  • evidence of further professional study
  • experience within an IB PYP curriculum framework
  • experience of teaching across the primary phase
  • teaching experience in both home country and overseas

You will be an enthusiastic, talented and experienced teacher with the required knowledge, skills and understanding to work closely with an experienced team of educators, dedicated to catering for the needs of all children in their care.
