Yr1 Weekly Update – 04/11/16
People Explore to Understand the World
We have been continuing pattern writing linked to our inquiry. Some classes have been inquiring into ‘What comes out of an egg?’ – How many things can you name that come out of an egg? Our guided reading sessions have also focused on information books and pattern books. We have continued learning unit 2 phonics and have been blending letters to make words.
Our exploration of patterns have focused on elements and terms, creating, continuing and translating patterns. We have been using natural materials and have gone on lots of pattern hunts! Can you continue these patterns? How many elements do you see? How many terms are there? Could you translate it into something else, such as a number pattern?
As part of our class and personal inquiries we have been learning about different research tools. We have been using books, the internet, photographs and videos to collect data about the questions we have formulated. We have then reflected on if our research has answered our question and which tool was most useful to us. When you research how do you collect data?
