Yr4 Weekly Update – 01/20/17

Maths

We have been modelling fractions using area, measurement and sets of things. Students have been demonstrating their prior knowledge and making connections with our learning on arrays and division.

We have been transferring meaning between visual and concrete models of fractions to the way we notate them using digits. Most importantly we have been identifying and discussing some of the misconceptions which lead children to think that fractions are ‘hard’.

 

Literacy

We have continued to learn the comprehension strategies of summarising and synthesising.

We have been using the free app ‘myCreate’ to produce our stop motion animation
