Yr1 Weekly Update – 06/23/17

Scientists observe and classify in order to understand more about living things.

Unit of Inquiry and Literacy

As our inquiry into How the World Works ends, we have spent the week carrying out our own personal investigations into a living thing.  Some of us chose animals and some of us chose plants.  We used a variety of sources gather our information – pebble go (an online ebook library – the children have access to it through splat), brainpop junior and books.  We used the reading skills that we have been practicing all year to find the information that we needed.

Once we had completed our finding out and gathered our information we created posters to show what we had learned about our animal.

Maths

We have been exploring time, fractions and probability.  We have played games and used brainpop to find information.

Reminders

HATS, SUNSCREAN AND BUG SPRAY EVERY DAY!

Dentist visits

Dentist visits continue over the next few weeks.  On the day of your child’s visit they need to bring their toothbrush.  The dental booklet will be sent home at the end of the day.
