Yr4 Weekly Update – 01/13/17

This week we have begun our summative assessments on our unit of inquiry. Mrs Darling has been teaching the students how to use MyCreate to make stop-motion animations. We have been using our background knowledge on our chosen organism to plan a story that can be animated.

We visited Kowloon Park this week to use our skills of observation and questioning. There were lots of examples of diversity and adaptation, from birds beaks to the shape of leaves. The playground was pretty fun too…

Maths

We have begun to explore what we know about fractions. Children have been modelling their understanding of parts of a whole with shapes. ,easure and sets of objects.

Literacy

The students have used storyboards to plan a story for their animations about their chosen organism. In reading, we have been learning the comprehension skills of summarising and synthesising.

Home learning

Take a walk in your local area and see how many different species of plant and animal you can observe. Keep developing your background knowledge into your chosen organism.
