Yr5 Weekly Update – 06/30/17

Final Year Five update of the Year!

What a fantastic year it has been. The students have all worked so hard and made such pleasing progress in so many aspects of school life. We think they are certainly ready to move up to Year Six and take on the responsibilities of being the oldest students in school.

To complete our final Unit of Inquiry, we were delighted to be able to welcome back Aime, a representative of Christian Action to receive a cheque for $17,000 which was the profit the students made on Market Day. The students chose this charity after meeting some of the refugees the organisation helps to support during our unit exploring migration

Aime was also very pleased to be able to take away the donations so kindly given that Marvi, Hannah, Dakshita and Trishna from 5M organised after hearing how difficult it is for the refugee children to be able to afford school supplies.

As the final day draws to a close we would like to thank the students for their enthusiasm and hard work and parents for your support during the year. It is a particularly sad day for us as we say goodbye to one of our longest serving members of staff – Mr. Woodward. The students (like us), will be very sorry to see him go, the many, many children he has taught over his time here will testify to the fun they have had learning with him. In fact, here are a few messages:

Sophie Hui – Thank you for making me laugh every day and I really enjoyed being in your class.

Sanika Deshpande – We will miss your sense of humor and we hope you have a great retirement!

Nisa Jasrotia – I loved how you put the dweeb hat on people for doing something dweebish! It made me laugh so much.

Justin Jeon – Buckle up your seat belts!

Aarav Lachmandas – I will always remember that you wore different socks!

We wish him every success for the future!

One final reminder your child’s end of year report is available on Gateway and contains not just a review of their progress but also some useful targets that will help to consolidate and improve their learning. If you are having difficulty accessing the report please contact the school office for assistance. The final Unit of Inquiry report is also available now.

We hope you have found the updates this year useful in keeping you in touch with what your child has been doing at school. We would like to wish you all a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer. Remember the new term begins on 15th August!

With very best wishes,

The Year Five Team
