Principal’s Message

Dear KJS families,
Summer term is now in full swing at KJS with many exciting activities and learning taking place. The work the students and teachers have been undertaking for the Year 6 PYP Exhibition has brought a vibrant energy to the school, and I am thrilled to see our students fully engaged in this important part of their learning journey.
The students had a fantastic time during the Year 2 visit to the Sai Kung Lions Park on Wednesday. The children enjoyed exploring the natural surroundings, playing in the open spaces, and learning about the local wildlife. Thank you to all the parents who came and supported the visit.

It was the PTA committee meeting earlier this week. I expressed my gratitude for the incredible work being done by the KJS parent community. It was also great to hear about the exciting opportunities the PTA will be supporting to enhance the student experience at KJS.

I have been astounded by the amazing artwork our children have been creating for the ESF Art Exhibition. Each year group is carefully selecting pieces to submit to the senior leadership team. It’s clear that choosing the final pieces will be a tough task as there is so much talent on display!

Just a reminder that our upcoming three-way conferences are just around the corner. Information on how and when to book your slot should have been sent to you, so please ensure you log on and book as soon as possible. I am looking forward to welcoming all families to the school for this event.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Mr Gavin MacGregor
Principal

News from the PTA

Dear KJS Community,
The time is flying by! The PTA held its Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday 17 April and all KJS parents were invited to attend as per last week’s Newsletter.
We did have many parents who joined in the call and it was good to see the interest. The PTA is a non profit organisation and all funds raised after expenses go to the school.
Accounts were shared, as well as plans for this term’s events.

Caregivers Appreciation Day 16 May

The next event to look forward to is the Caregivers Appreciation Day where the PTA will host a breakfast for all those wonderful people who help look after your children. They may be helpers, grandparents or other family members, all of whom will be welcome to come join us to celebrate all that they do.
More details around this will be shared in the next Newsletter, so do look out for this.

2024 Raffle
We congratulate the following students who sold the most raffle tickets last month and helped raise money for the school through their efforts:
Karina Tong 1SW, Saira Hira 6KC and Kayla Lee 2LB.
These winners will each get a $500 Toys R Us voucher, please come to the PTA Office to pick it up. Well done!
And a big thank you to each and everyone of the students who helped sell tickets, they all contributed to the success of the raffle sales.
Please could we ask all parents who have not yet returned the unsold tickets to the PTA Office asap! We need to account for them to the auditors.

New Year 1 Students in school 31 May
We also look forward to welcoming our new Year 1 Families into KJS on 31st May. If any parents would like to be involved in this or the Caregivers Appreciation Day, please contact Rekha in the PTA Office.

Have a good weekend ahead!
The KJS PTA Team.

Student Success

Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year.

While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.

That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
