Principal’s Message

Dear KJS families,

We hope this newsletter finds you well despite the weather. Despite the rain, we are pleased to inform you that at KJS, our usual activities have been able to continue without disruption…for the most part!

Our Year 6 students have been diligently working on their PYP Exhibition, showcasing their learning and creativity. This exhibition, as you know, is a culmination of their Primary Years Programme journey, where they delve into real-world issues and express their perspectives through various mediums. We can’t wait for the unveiling of their final projects.

Next Tuesday evening, our students will be performing at the ESF Primary Choral Concert at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium Arena. We are looking forward to seeing our students perform on the big stage, a huge thanks for the work and support of Mrs. Swett.

I had the privilege of attending the ESF Executive Leadership Committee meeting yesterday. It was thrilling to hear about the plans as ESF progresses towards a new vision for 2030.

Finally, we will soon be announcing the final pieces selected from our students for the ESF Art Exhibition in early May.

Don’t forget next Wednesday the school is closed for the May 1st Labour Day holiday.

Enjoy your weekend

Mr Gavin MacGregor

Principal

ECA on 2-3 May (Three-Way Conference)

All after-school ECA will be cancelled on 2-3 May, except KJS’s Y4 Basketball and Y5 Football Club.

News from the PTA

We hope everyone is staying dry in this very wet weather! We are planning for the next events coming up here and hope that parents will all get involved in supporting them.

Caregivers Appreciation Day 16 May 2024

We are looking forward to hosting the Caregivers Appreciation Day where the PTA will sponsor a morning gathering for all those wonderful people who help look after your children. They may be helpers, grandparents or other family members, all of whom will be welcome to come join us to celebrate all that they do.

We request parents to fill in this Google Form for our planning purposes and we really hope that many special caregivers will attend this.

It will take place in the Hall from 8:30 am – 10:00 am with a show of appreciation, a special presentation from Ms Gillian Hadley, gifts and refreshments.

Lonnie Bedwell Visits KJS 29 May 2024

KJS PTA is very proud to sponsor Lonnie Bedwell’s talk at KJS on 29 May to some of our students.

Lonnie Bedwell is the first totally blind climber to summit Mt Everest. He is also a motivational speaker, author, extreme adventure athlete and ex US army veteran.

Lonnie made a connection with a KJS parent last year at the Mt Everest base camp and addressed some of our students via Zoom in June 2023. So inspiring was he that we have decided to bring him to Hong Kong from America to talk to schools and corporations during his stay here. We will share more details around this closer to the time.

As always, we welcome parental involvement in our projects, feel free to contact us:

Have a good weekend ahead!

Student Success

Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year.

While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.

That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
