Acting Principal’s Message

Dear KJS Families,

It was absolutely fantastic to see so many of you there at our Family Fun Day last Saturday. I had a strong feeling on Saturday morning that we were going to have a good turn out, however, I was genuinely surprised at the incredible number of families that we had on campus right throughout the day. The positive energy was palpable, and the opportunity to connect with one another in-person at a large-scale event again highlighted that the fact we can’t replicate these experiences virtually.

I would like to thank everyone involved in terms of preparation, contributions, volunteering on the day, and participation. It’s amazing to see what can be achieved with teamwork. In particular, I would like to thank Ms. Anna Rayton – PTA Chair – and Ms. Rekha Mahbubani – PTA Administrator – for their incredible efforts in making the day possible.

Y4 students are getting excited about their upcoming Day Camp this week on Thursday and Friday. We had very positive experiences with Y5 and Y6 earlier this school year, so we expect that our Y4 students will also enjoy what APA has planned for them. Additionally, it is timely to mention that we will go through a selection process to consider a number of providers before settling on one for the next school year. This is not in response to anything negative regarding APA, it is simply good practice to implement on a periodic basis.

Finally, you may be interested to learn that ESF is looking to replace the current Primary Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) with an up-to-date off-the-shelf solution. In addition to added functionality to support school administration, we will be looking to add better and more user-friendly learning and reporting functionality for teachers, students, and families. We will keep you posted.

News from the PTA

Hello KJS Community,

What a Fantastic Friends and Family Fun Day!

Last Saturday was the 2023 KJS PTA Friends and Family Fun Day and it was- FANTASTIC!!

Absolutely amazing with great food, super happy atmosphere, smiles, sunshine, games, laughter and most importantly, connecting with each other after so long! And to top it all off, we had the most PERFECT weather!

Thank you to all of you who come along, we recorded a turnout of over 2,000 guests. Thank you also to those parents who donated food and drinks, all of which were much appreciated.

A very special note of thanks to our dedicated Team Leaders, who gave many hours of their time before and during the event to ensure that food, games and PTA stalls were well organised, not to mention the performances and managing the Bouncy Castles. No small feat with the numbers we had!

And also huge appreciation to the selfless parents who came and hosted popular stalls throughout the day without a break as they had such long queues of eager students and parents waiting for them!

And that’s just the G/Floor, whilst on the 4/floor it was all about the teachers and students who devised, managed and organised games. Special thanks to all the staff volunteers who gave of their personal time and kudos to the Student Council Representatives who created and managed several games’ stalls, almost completely by themselves!

There was endless excitement, lots of giggles and loud whoops of joy as everyone enjoyed the fun.

We can say the day was a big success for the KJS Community and a great start to pave the way for more KJS PTA events-so keep an eye out in the coming term!

We look forward to more collaborative events but we do need more parent volunteers to make them possible. Please let us know if you would like to be involved in coming events by contacting Rekha in the PTA Office.

Lost Property on Fun Day

A small number of items were handed in to us, if any of them belong to you, please contact Rekha in the PTA Office to arrange for their pick up via email pta@kjs.edu.hk or call 3765-8709 during school hours.
