Principal’s Message

Dear KJS families,

I would like to firstly send my best wishes to all our KJS families that are celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival this weekend. I hope you have an enjoyable time taking part in the festivities with your family and friends.

As we come to the end of another fantastic week here at KJS, it still amazes me how articulate, dedicated and passionate our students are about so many aspects of the school and the learning experiences within it.

I spent some in the Library this week, talking to the children about their reading interests and favourite authors. Everytime I spend time in the library, I am reminded of how lucky we are to have such a wonderful space. It is so pleasing to see how proud the students are of it as well.

Beyond the classroom, it was great to finally experience my first Year 6 amazing race last Friday afternoon. All of the students shone brightly in the various physical and mental activities that were planned for them, although some resilience was required for some of the tasks. It was pleasing to see how well all the students worked as a team, supporting each other and cheering other teams on. A huge thankyou to Mr Riddell and Ms Hadley for organising the event and to the Year 6 staff for their support.

We have our Year 5 PTA supported coffee morning for parents next Wednesday. The previous sessions have been really useful so if you haven’t yet please do sign up.

Have a safe and enjoyable ‘long’ weekend.

Mr Gavin MacGregor

Principal

Message from the Nurse

Let’s keep our school healthy and strong!

I would like everyone in the KJS families to help in keeping our school strong and healthy. Your help as follows can make a big difference to our community:

  • Check your child’s body temperature and any symptoms before coming to school. If your child is sick, please do not send them to school until the symptoms including fever, vomiting or diarrhoea subside for at least 2 days without use of medications;
  • Take your child to see a doctor if your child is sick; and
  • Encourage your child to maintain good hygiene, take adequate rest and maintain a balanced diet.

Hope everyone stays strong and healthy. Happy Mid Autumn Festival.

KJS and Crossroads Foundation

Upcycle old sports shoes and sports kit by bringing them into school.

KJS is collecting used footwear and sports kits over the coming months for the HK Crossroads Foundation. Crossroads help distribute such items to those in need; both in Hong Kong and across the world. There will be a collection box just outside the school office for items.

*Please note; all donated items MUST be in good condition.

Crossroads’ Foundation provides aid for relief and development in over 90 countries, as well as in Hong Kong, their headquarters.

PTA Annual Membership Fees

Dear Families,

As the new school year is underway, we would like to inform you that we are now collecting the PTA Annual Membership fees. We kindly request your contribution of $200 per family, which plays a vital role in funding the operation of the PTA  to help facilitate the various parent activities and events that are scheduled to take place throughout the year.

You will receive an invoice from the school via the KJS Payment System in mid October. We sincerely appreciate your support and cooperation in this matter. We are excited about the opportunity to work together with you and look forward to a productive and successful school year.

Thank you once again for your continued support.

PTA Annual General Meeting Nov 2023-24

We will be holding our important AGM in early November and encourage all parents to join so that they may have a voice in the school. We will be sending out the formal invite and Google Form for Executive Committee Office Bearer volunteers next week, please look out for it.

The Monsters Ball – 2 Nov 2023

The next whole school event to look out for is The Monsters Ball, which will be a fun filled (and spooky!) evening held here at school on 2 November. An exciting opportunity for everyone to dress in fancy costumes, enjoy an evening with school friends, classmates and community members.

Student Success

Thank you for sharing your child’s achievements with us over the past year.

While individual achievements are undoubtedly significant and provide a source of pride for both the student and their family, sharing every student’s accomplishments on our social media channels is no longer feasible. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their individual accomplishments, feel valued and celebrated.

That being said, we encourage you to share your child’s achievements with their teacher and peers, as well as within your personal social media networks. This way, your child’s accomplishments can be recognized and celebrated by those who know them best.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic educational landscape. Our school community’s strength lies in our collective efforts to celebrate the diverse talents, achievements, and experiences of all our students.
